What inspires you?

I am inspired when an athlete, client or participant recognizes the power, strength, and resilience they have within; that lightbulb moment when they realize that they can achieve their goals…and go beyond.

What’s your fitness background?

Growing up in Canada, I started as a competitive gymnast and transitioned into running (cross country and track) in high school. Track brought me to the US, where I attended Iowa State University on a track scholarship, competing mostly in the mid-distance events. After college, I remained on the running scene, participating in the occasional road race, and eventually running a few marathons, including Boston in 2005. In 2007, I embarked on a new fitness journey and became a certified personal trainer (ACE), working with clients in the Bloomington area, and started teaching group exercises classes soon after.

I returned to my running roots in 2014 when I started coaching cross country at Batchelor Middle School, and shortly after that, became an assistant track coach at Bloomington High School South. In 2020, I became the Head Girls Cross Country and Track & Field Coach at Bloomington High School South. It has been a joy to return to my running roots, finding a way to combine my love of fitness with my desire to teach, coach and motivate!

What do you like about fitness teaching at Ethos?

I love that Ethos is not just a gym. It is an experience: an experience that is open to all, accessible to all, and welcoming to all. Every person who walks through the doors, joins us online, or sweats with us outdoors, is family. Tatiana reaches out to each participant, making them feel as though their fitness journey, is hers. She strives to find ways to help them embrace the fitness experience; to set goals along the way and help them see what is possible. She inspires the instructors at Ethos to connect, motivate, and educate. Her motto: exercise is transformational, is truly what Ethos is all about. We are all transformed to be the best version of ourselves, whether we are participating or instructing.
